Do you ever want to just scream?
Not a shrill blood curdling I’m terrified of the shadow noise creaking figure footsteps in the dark scream.
But a guttural , from the depths of your heart-soul -being -essence scream
coming from
the space you keep tucked away like a note slipped into a dusty book left on the shelf for years
Have you ever stepped out of the room
blinked rapidly
I’m fine
made a joke
looked away brushed it off
dived deep into silence
clenched jaw
closed eyes
pressed too hard pencil to paper broke the tip
Nail marks in your palm keeping you from stepping into that space where no one,
not a single person,
can go
be, witness and not wonder if in fact you’ve lost your mind,
your grip,
your hope,
your faith, your hold,
your self
me either.
